Real Estate Development
Joshua McAlees is the President of Capital Construction and Development, which is based in North Palm Beach, Florida. Josh has more than seventeen years of experience in the industry. Over the course of his career, he has worked both as a developer and a general contractor. As a result of this variety of experience, Josh is able to offer his clients unparalleled service.
In 1996 Josh graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Banking/Finance. His first job after graduation was with Nicklaus Design. While Josh wanted to work in business development, the company wanted Josh to learn about the company’s work by being in the field. Josh was given a truck and a crew, and he served as a superintendent during the construction of a course. From there Josh moved on to building other projects. From 1999 to 2004, he focused on constructing car dealerships throughout the state of Florida.
In 2003 Joshua McAlees earned his real estate license and general contractor license. At this point, Josh decided to work for himself. He began to seek out vacant land, take it through the entitlement process, and then build property himself as a general contractor. Initially, he focused on commercial construction. Josh estimates that ninety percent of his business was constructing offices, warehouses, and other commercial properties. However, after the market crashed in 2009, Josh’s business became ninety percent high-end residential construction.
The process of identifying new projects is one of Joshua McAlees’ favorites aspects of his career. Each project is different, and this variety keeps the work interesting. While it’s rare for everything to go smoothly, Josh recognizes that adaptation is necessary to complete a successful project. Real estate development and construction require attention to detail as well. Although Josh works long hours, he enjoys it so much that it doesn’t feel like work.
Joshua McAlees believes that persistence is the key to success regardless of the business you work in. However, persistence is an especially important quality in the competitive real estate industry. Josh makes sure that his team understands the importance of following up with clients and partners. A motto that he often refers to is, “Things don’t just happen. Somebody makes them happen.”
Palazzo Villas and 3621 South Ocean are just two examples of Josh’s high-end work. The combined value of the projects is over 20 million dollars.
